Response of heart murmur intensity to isometric (handgrip) exercise.

چکیده
murs was evaluated in 36 patients and the results compared with the effects of amyl nitrite and phenylephrine. The isometric handgrip exercise produced immediate, reproducible, and significant increases in heart rate and blood pressure. It also increased the intensity of murmurs due to aortic and mitral regurgitation and mitral stenosis and attenuated the murmurs of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.

Effect of age on the hemodynamic and sympathetic responses at the onset of isometric handgrip exercise.
Cardiac and peripheral vasomotor factors contribute to the rapid pressor response at the onset of isometric handgrip exercise. We tested the hypothesis that age enhances the sympathetic and vasoconstrictor response at the onset of isometric handgrip exercise so that the pressor response is maintained, despite a diminished cardiac function. Twelve young and twelve older (24 ± 3 and 63 ± 8 yr) in...
متن کاملEffect of muscle mass and intensity of isometric contraction on heart rate.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of muscle mass and the level of force on the contraction-induced rise in heart rate. We conducted an experimental study in a sample of 28 healthy men between 20 and 30 yr of age (power: 95%, alpha: 5%). Smokers, obese subjects, and those who performed regular physical activity over a certain amount of energetic expenditure were excluded from...
متن کاملComparison of skin sympathetic nerve responses to isometric arm and leg exercise.
Measurement of skin sympathetic nerve activity (SSNA) during isometric exercise has been previously limited to handgrip. We hypothesized that isometric leg exercise due to the greater muscle mass of the leg would elicit greater SSNA responses than arm exercise because of presumably greater central command and muscle mechanoreceptor activation. To compare the effect of isometric arm and leg exer...
متن کاملA study of variation in cardiocirculatory parameters with different body positions during isometric exercise in young adult males.
Introduction: To study the effects of exercise, how important it is to choose a posture? We aimed to characterize the possible impact of different body positions on cardiovascular parameters during and after sustained isometric handgrip (IHG) exercise. Materials and Methods: Cross sectional study was carried out in 33 young adult males (mean age: 19.21±1.083 years). We recorded Bloo...
متن کاملA cholinergic contribution to the circulatory responses evoked at the onset of handgrip exercise in humans.
A cholinergic (muscarinic) contribution to the initial circulatory response to exercise in humans remains controversial. Herein, we posit that this may be due to exercise mode with a cholinergic contribution being important during isometric handgrip exercise, where the hyperemic response of the muscle is relatively small compared with the onset of leg cycling, where a marked increase in muscle ...
